I have watched as virtually all of the big-time gurus have pushed the whole “internet marketing for local businesses” deals. Howie Schwartz, Andy Jenkins, Frank Kern and many other big named marketers have been constantly talking about the lucrative field of consulting small businesses.
Last week, Mike Koenigs of Traffic Geyser launched “Main Street Marketing”. That program will probably end up being the largest launch of the year. As a Traffic Geyser affiliate, I received all of the notices about the launch and was amazed that that program generated nearly 1.4 million dollars in the hour BEFORE the public launch.
I have been consulting with small businesses for a while now, and I can tell you that it is a fruitful business. Traditional brick and mortar businesses really have no idea how to market on the internet. Most of them have websites, but they use them as glorified online brochures. They do not generate traffic to their websites because they don’t know how.
Some of the more astute local businesses might hire a web consulting firm, but many of those businesses really don’t know how to market on the internet. Web development companies and people that know how to build websites are technicians and artists. They are NOT marketers. Many of them don’t have a clue on how to build a website that will make a sale. They also don’t know how to build a website that will create a lead.
It is rare that I see any call to action in local business websites, and lead generation is the most important part of marketing online for most internet marketing experts.
Helping local businesses with their online presence can be a very lucrative market, but it takes real work and most businesses and wannabee consultants do not understand what is involved. Finding businesses with an open mind that are willing to invest some of their resources and time in online marketing is really the key to consulting success. The customers that have worked closely with me have gotten the most dramatic results from my services.
After all, if you are a landscaper, dentist, lawyer, accountant, floral shop owner, personal trainer, contractor or any other type of business person, you should know much more about your business than I do and should therefore be better able to help brand your business online.
Unfortunately, there are a limited number of people that I can help, so I will be coming out with a product in May 2010 that will guide business owners through the whole online marketing minefield. Hopefully, they will be willing to go through a 24 week tutorial that will help them put their businesses on the front page of the search engines.

In early 2006, I started looking at online marketing as a possible way to provide for my family and simplify my life. I was tired of employees and all of the usual struggles of traditional business. I spent a great deal of time surfing the net. I checked out companies like EDC Gold, Liberty League, Jay Kubassek (pre carbon copy pro) and others.
I ended up joining a company called Big Ticket To Wealth. I did very well with Big Ticket and learned a lot about online marketing. My experience with Big Ticket has enabled me to branch out into many other areas of online marketing…………….and I have been successful with every nearly everything that I have gotten involved with.
An interesting thing started to happen this past summer. My Big Ticket traffic started to pick up. At the same time, Gerald Van Yerxa changed his approach to marketing Big Ticket and loaded up his system with tons of new trainings. This confluence of events has turned his mentorship program into a system that truly converts. It is exploding on a daily basis and I am back promoting it with all of my heart. I created a new landing page just to see what would happen and could not believe the traffic. The video I put on it was very basic, but people obviously are attracted to the whole concept of learning how to effectively market online.
All online marketers know that there is a traditional increase in activity online in the fall, but I believe that the bad economy is also encouraging people to look for alternatives to make money.
Thought I would show people how well longtail keywords can rank in Google. I took some keyword research that my friend Gerald Van Yerxa did for his company Big Ticket To Wealth, and I made a video about those words and used the words in the title of the video.

I get emails all of the time from people that are “reverse marketing” me for their opportunities. This is a shrewd and effective practice because many people are so used to failing at their home business efforts that they will often jump from program to program. It is not that hard to get people to think that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence.
I welcome these attempts and try to at least scan every email and offer that I receive. If it looks like the “new revolutionary” business or product has legs and may become something big, I’ll often study it a bit and make a video about it. One good example is a mlm product that launched in the spring of 09 called “Alive Max”. It was a nutritional product that you sprayed into your mouth………….and it seamed to be well funded and there were a ton of people getting into the binary “power line”. I made a few videos about the product and posted them on youtube. I didn’t join Alive Max, but I have enjoyed a fair amount of traffic from those videos since I got them online so quickly.
If you learn about the launch of a new product or business before a lot of the youtube or search engine real estate is taken, you can put a review out there and enjoy the traffic for a long time. The really great thing about getting positioned well in those businesses is you can go in and actually change the links in the videos without losing your place in the search engines. Now sometimes fiddling with things may change your rankings, but I have successfully marketed a number of products just by changing the links in videos that I put on the internet a long time ago.
Just yesterday, I learned of two new MLM’s that were in the process of launching. I did one video for each of them, and within hours I was at the top of youtube and even had thumbnails on google for some of the targeted keywords that I had chosen.
I have not been posting in this blog as much as I should. For those regular readers, I apologize. I have been getting emails from this blog daily saying “so and so has subscribed to your blog”. Each email has made me feel a twinge of remorse……………….and I am going to rectify that.
I have been totally concentrating on learning how to help others SEO their websites and on improving the effectiveness of my marketing. Testing pay-per-click campaigns, changing the psychology of my videos, working with other marketers in their online endeavors………………have been totally consuming.
Now that the fall is here, and there is a palpable sense of excitement for what the future holds…….I am back!

I have seen newbies to online marketing make thousands in there first few weeks since last July (yes just 5 weeks ago) and I am very excited about what the next few months will bring.
The My BrandBuilder Pro platform is now here. Unlike other popular platforms, this brands individual marketers and allows them to achieve a level of marketing prowess once left to the 50k per month crowd!
It took me about three hours to get my two URL’s and a few landing pages made, but it was beyond easy for this experienced online marketer. I would guess that the average newbie will spend many more hours than I did getting set up, but the time will be VERY well spent.
This platform allows you to run up to three separate businesses from one site and monitor/track all of the traffic, conversion rates and a whole host of other data. Once it is set up, you will be able to create a new landing page within minutes. You could, for instance, be marketing a MLM product and decide you wanted to target work at home moms. It should only take a couple of minutes to set up a keyword maximized landing page for that demographic and it would be instantly SEO’d with the articles that you would link to it in the hyperlinks at the bottom of the page.
Now that may sound like mumbo-jumbo if you haven’t been mired in the realm of pay-per-click, but trust me……….the savings in your PPC costs alone are worth the effort and investment in the platform.
Now, on to the coolest part:
The whole concept of the My BrandBuilder Pro platform is for it to work as a “fully funded proposal”. The goal of the platform is to brand yourself online, get people into the system, and then, once they have begun their online marketing adventure, you let them know what your primary business is. This is the whole “funnel” concept whereby once people actually become a lead for you, they are already invested in you and you are profitable from your lead gathering efforts. The people that don’t join you in your primary business will still provide you with income from the affiliate portion of the My BrandBuilder Pro platform. The cost of the platform is $57 per month and members need Aweber for their auto-responders so the total cost is about $77 per month. This is a pittance considering the power of the system and with the affiliate commissions from the My BrandBuilder Pro site and Aweber, you only need three customers to be in the black!
The likely scenario for this platform is that you will probably average around $30 to $40 per month from each customer as some of the affiliate products are likely to be purchased by any serious online marketer.
One of the first things you do when you get into the system is set up affiliate links with over 15 different services or products. Some of the services are Traffic Geyser, Tube Mogul Pro and PR Web Spy. There are also one-time purchase products or training materials that are all chosen for their quality and value to marketers. There is a heavy emphasis on the free social media methods of marketing like Twitter Marketing, YouTube or video Marketing or websites like Facebook, but Perry Marshall’s book and PPC is also in the system.
When it comes to PPC, there is a whole series of modules within the system to manage and set up PPC campaigns in a matter that drastically cuts the cost. This will be the subject of a future post as I have not totally gone through that package. Suffice it to say, that part of the system is probably worth hundreds of dollars per month in reduced cost and time for the PPC afficianado.

I cannot wait until I can begin to reap the benefits of a more simplified and profitable online marketing lifestyle. I am confident that it is just days/weeks away, though knowing me……………..I’ll find something else to complicate things…….perhaps I can start on that training package of my own!
I have seen some of it, but the much anticipated launch of the “self branding” website is very close. Rumor has it that it should on April 8, 2009 (not much of a rumor as that is what I was told).
I am very excited about this incredible site as I know that the weak link for most marketers is how to attract people to themselves. Since most marketing “opportunities” give people a replicated corporate site, most people in these companies are competing with thousands of people on the same slice of internet real estate.
Why should anyone join YOU in YOUR opportunity when there are THOUSANDS OR MORE other people with the exact same product, payplan and website?
Every person with an online business is special and has something to offer someone!
That crazy little bit of knowledge can make ANY person stand out. Think about it for a second; almost 7 billion people on planet earth and the internet is growing at light speed. There has to be a ton of people with similar life experiences to almost everyone. There must be a way for almost any wannabee marketer to use the “attraction” marketing methods of the web to “Brand” themselves.
